Galilee Rotation Day 2: Sites on and around the Sea of Galilee

Map of our itinerary on Tuesday, July 17, 2012:

We started the second day of our Galilee rotation by taking a boat from Qibbutz `En Gev across the Sea of Galilee, seeing a first century boat in a museum at Nof Ginosar (A), and then taking a bus to the Mount of Beatitudes (B), walking down to St. Peter's Primacy and Tabgha, and then busing to Capernaum and then back to `En Gev.
Here are links of previous visits to some or all of these sites:

Please take this link to read about "Our Galilee Miracle," a wonderful experience that we had with our son, Samuel, during this boat ride.

The boat captain plays music for much of the ride, much of it gospel music.  See the video clip below for our favorite, "Our God Is an Awesome God."  In the middle of the lake, the boat stopped and we held a stirring devotional.

This boat comes from the time of Jesus and could be much like the boats used by Peter and Andrew, James and John

Mount of Beatitudes

The church built on the traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7)

A Galilee Hillside, St. Peter's Primacy, and Tabgha

Walking down this dirt road gave us a feel for what it must have been like for Jesus and his disciples to walk through the hills of Galilee

St. Peter's Primacy, recounting the Risen Lord's commission to Peter in John 21
This stretch of Galilee shoreline is the traditional site of Jesus' appearance to some of his disciples after his resurrection

Tabgha, the traditional site of the Feeding of the 5,000

The rock upon which tradition claims Jesus laid the loaves and the fishes

Capernaum

More recorded miracles occurred here than any other biblical site.  It was the headquarters for Jesus' Galilean mission.
